All season long Wolf Creek Wilderness will be at Scotts Flat Lake in Nevada County, CA offering kayak rentals, lessons and demos. Kayaks will be available daily for rental. Introduction to Kayaking lessons will be offered Saturday mornings. Intermediate/Advanced Kayaking lessons are available Saturday afternoons. Each Sunday morning will be Demo Day. A perfect way to test paddle many varieties of kayaks. Wednesday evenings we will offer a variety of clinics including the kayak roll, advanced paddling skills, and other related instruction. We will also have yoga for kayakers sessions and Stand-Up-Paddling clinics. We're Ready When You Are! Come see us!

Intro to Kayaking Lesson:
Offered each Saturday - 9am to 12 pm

Advanced reservation strongly recommended

This lesson will allow the beginning kayaker to feel very comfortable and accomplished on protected flat water paddling. While using more stable recreational kayaks we will practice launching and landing techniques, efficient forward strokes, sweep strokes, and draw strokes. How to handle the wind and what to do if you capsize. We will also do a short paddle towards Deer Creek.

Intermediate/Advanced Kayaking Skills
Offered each Sataturday - 1pm to 4pm

This lesson will cut to the chase with a more detailed analysis of the forward stroke for efficient long distance and power paddling. Time will be spent on a variety of draw strokes, and paddle bracing skills . We will explore edging techniques to learn what your kayak is really meant to do. And of course we will practice capsize recovery skills both with a partner and solo. This lesson will have a paddler getting more comfortable paddling on larger open waters and coastal kayaking.

Sunday Demo Day

This is the perfect way to “shop” for a kayak. Each Sunday morning we will have a variety of boats on the water for you to test paddle, or peddle in the case of Hobie Mirage boats, or Stand-Up and Paddle. Stand-Up-paddling is the latest rage in paddle sports. Reservations are recommended so we can have the boats that interest you available for you to try. The cost of the demo is applied towards your purchase.

Wednesday Eve Clinics

Each Wed evening we will offer a different specialty skills clinic depending on what is requested most. For example, we will offer kayak rolling clinics, advanced edging and bracing skills, and capsize recovery techniques. We will also have yoga for kayakers sessions and Stand-Up-Paddling clinics. This is a perfect way to spend a mid-week sunset on the water while brushing up or learning the first time those special skills.

Sea Kayak Adventures
When your skills and fitness level are ready, ask us about our Sea Kayak Adventure weekends out on the Mendocino Coast. Here we will learn to play in the surf and explore endless sea caves. We can also put together kayak trips out on the San Francisco Bay. Call and ask for more details.
